Why is the Lower Back Tattoo Design So Popular?

In today's society, tattoos have become a cultural norm of sorts. Over the last several years, tattoos have become widely more acceptable. As a result, many more people are getting tattoos and in many cases they are getting more than one. Tattoos have also seemingly become more popular with members of the female gender in recent years.

When a female goes to get a tattoo, she is highly likely to have her new work of art placed on her lower back. This seems to be the growing trend among females in regard to tattoo placement. Chances are when you see a woman with a noticeable tattoo it is strategically placed on her lower back, just above her pants line. But why is this the case? Why is it that women choose this location? It could be that women choose to have their tattoos put on their lower backs for different reasons. This region is known as the "nape" of the back. And as far as the female anatomy is concerned, the nape of the back is considered to be one of the sexiest parts of the body. So perhaps a woman feels more sensual and sexier when she puts a tattoo on this particular region of her back. Another reason could be simply so it is more noticeable by members of the opposite sex, or guys. Guys tend to focus in on two parts of a woman's body at first glance. One being the chest, and the other being of course, her bottom. And knowing that guys are going to stare at her backside, a female places the tattoo strategically above it so that it is more likely to be noticed by the guy. As a result of this reasoning, tattoos placed on the lower back on females have been given the moniker of a "tramp stamp". And generally, you very rarely see tattoos on the lower backs of males.

Whatever the reason for the placement of a tattoo on the lower back, lower back tattoos have become increasingly more popular over the course of the last few years. You would be hard pressed to go to a night club, bar, restaurant, or any other crowded public place, and not be able to find someone with a tattoo on their lower back just above his or her (most likely her) pants line.
